Sommario

This paper presents the experimental behaviour of a composite CHS-to-I beam joints, where connection between the two is made by plates passing through the column through specific laser cuts realised on the latter. The plates are welded to the column, which is filled with concrete. The system is also equipped with a composite slab connected to the beams through shear studs. The node has been designed to observe failure in the welds, which have been designed with enhanced calculations from previous dedicated tests, and care in realization to fully penetrate trough the surfaces to be connected. The behaviour of the node under monotonic horizontal load has been observed, and finally numerical models have been developed to better understand the behaviour of all the components.
