Structural Application of Micro-Pore Foamed Concrete in RC Frames: A Comparative Study on Dynamic Behavior and Required Reinforcement
Ultima modifica: 2025-08-29
Sommario
This contribution presents a study on the application of microstructure-optimized material, micro-pore foamed concrete, as a structural material in reinforced concrete frames. The study examines three different scenarios with material densities ranging from 1350 to 1600 kg/m³, corresponding to compressive strengths of approximately 25 – 55 MPa and elastic moduli of about 14 – 20 GPa, and compares them to a reference case related to the use of conventional concrete of class C25/30. The results show that, owing to their distinct dynamic behavior, structures made with the innovative concrete can achieve a reduction of approximately 30% in reinforcement requirements compared to equivalent structures made with conventional concrete. This significant reduction highlights the potential of this innovative material to improve the sustainability of structural systems by minimizing material consumption.
