Sommario

In this work we want to go on the study of safety of masonry domes, with or without drum, in presence of seismic forces taking back a numeric method, based on the Static Theorem of Limit Analysis, already described in previous works and used for evaluating the collapse load multiplier of masonry walls, arches and – lately – also of domes. The domes are discretized in rigid macro-blocks of variable shape, subjected to own weight and to horizontal increasing loads. The main mechanical features on interfaces between the blocks are: inability to carry tension, unlimited compressive strength, sliding with dilatancy. This time we want to consider, in the calculus of the safety, the influence of the openings, taking into account also of the possible presence of hoops and of different materials constituting masonry organism. Our compiled numeric program allows, through opportune procedures of optimization, to evaluate both the horizontal load multiplier and the collapse mechanism. In the applications we compare the results obtained with those of the same domes without openings previously already studied.
