Sommario

In this work, the preliminary results obtained from destructive cyclic tests on masonry arch strengthened with FRCM (Fabric Reinforced Cementitious Matrix) system applied onto arch intrados are presented. The specimens reproduce in scale the typical structural geometry of the bridges with high rise-span ratio present in the Italian railway lines. They were tested under non-symmetrical vertical load that develops a typical 4-hinge collapse mechanism similar to the seismic collapse mechanism of masonry arches. From the experimental campaign has been possible to: assess the arch capacity increment obtained from the introduction of the FRCM strengthening system, reproduce the load-displacement capacity curve and the analyze the collapse mechanism of the unstrengthen and strengthened specimens.
