ABSTRACT

Earthquakes in the recent past continue to provide more and more information on the seismic behavior of existing buildings and on the related economic losses. For the reason it is interesting to compare the damage of buildings stocks archived after earthquakes survey activities.

In this paper, a comparison between damage occurred during L’Aquila 2009 and Emilia 2012 earthquakes is carried out. More in detail, data collected in the web-gis Da.D.O platform is analyzed, by referring to similar masonry building typologies surveyed after the two earthquakes considered in the study.

Fragility curves are illustrated and compared, estimated with the maximum likelihood criterion and expressed for different intensity measures, such as for instance the PGA evaluated for each analyzed building by using the shake-maps of the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).

The study concludes showing and comparing economic loss curves obtained through the seismic risk analysis performed. Finally, also the Italian conventional method for evaluating the Expected Annual Loss (EAL) is considered.
