A WebGIS platform for managing the seismic risk at regional scale: the case study of the Emilia-Romagna Region

Sommario


The Emilia Romagna Authority commissioned to EUCENTRE a regional-scale assessment of the seismic risk of ordinary residential buildings and the updating of reference signals for the estimation of the local seismic response at the third level seismic microzonation studies. In order to make the results of the study available to users, a WebGIS platform has been developed. Access is provided to two different roles: technicians of the regional Authority and professionals. The first ones can benefit of all the platform functionalities, the second ones can download the accelerograms useful for the seismic microzonation and the design of new structures or interventions on existing structures. The platform allows to visualize on a map the seismic hazard, on rock or including ground amplification, the exposure in terms of number of buildings, dwellings and population and the fragility curves specifically calibrated for the Emilia-Romagna exposed asset. Furthermore, the platform shows in tables and maps the seismic risk calculated for predetermined time windows and the return periods adopted in the hazard study that has been received by the Italian Building Code.
