Sommario

Prefabricated single storey buildings realized with mass-produced "sandwich" panels are widely used in recent years: they are mainly utilized in emerging countries and in some cases even in developed ones, basically for emergency situations.

The work shows the results of the experimental testing conducted by the University of Florence in the "Structures and Materials Testing Laboratory" of DICeA; the campaign has been done in order to find out the mechanical characterization of two types of multilayer panel used for the realization of prefabricated modular light structures.

The analyzed panels are composed of two resistant external layers, made of steel plates in one case and Eccoboard in the other one, and a central lightening layer of different materials for the two types of panel.

The conducted experimental activity has allowed the mechanical characterization of the base material of the panels, the evaluation of the real scale behavior of panels equipped with perimeter profiles, that are necessary elements for the assembling, and the load-bearing capacity both for gravitational loads and horizontal forces.

The modeling for structural analysis of this type of buildings has been done, also taking into account the seismic action, once the experimental activity and the analysis of results have been completed.
