Sommario

The 2010 Haiti Earthquake was the most catastrophic disaster in recent history in terms of loss of-  life on a per capita basis and financial cost normalized by a country’s gross domestic product. The event has further aggravated the already precarious situation of large number of Haitian people and underlining seismic vulnerability of undeveloped countries. The scale of the event resulted in significant long term suffering for the people of Haiti and imposed challenges on the United States and other donor countries that contributed to the response and recovery. That disaster is an opportunity to be called in reducing of seismic risk of Haitian territory and in particular of its capital Port au Prince. Here, a sample of project related to reconstruction of damaged area is reported. Especially, rebuilding area, well-known as bidonville,  are considered and low-cost low-rise structures are taken into account for poorest people of the country. The proposed structure is conceived as very simple system characterized by one floor and double room. The external force (earthquake and wind) resisting system is characterized by precast panels obtained using innovative light concrete material realized with foam-concrete technology and without using specific steel reinforcement. At the beginning peculiar characteristics of used material are presented. Then an comprehensive analysis of benefits and problematic connected to realizing in field of this specific technology is done. Besides analysis of structural response of system excited by earthquake and tornado input are considered. Finally a real example is proposed with regard to what will be realized in Haiti.
